Warning

This story deals with the older students at Hogwarts; Harry Potter's year-group barely feature in it at all. Readers should also be warned that no love-interest is provided for any of the characters. :-P

("Water-horse" was originally written post-Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and some of the minor details in this story are contradicted in subsequent canon: however, there are so few definite facts given in Half-Blood Prince that I have not felt able to revise the plot with authority, and I suspect that the final book in the series will invalidate my hypothesised history altogether. It's had a good run, but I'm afraid my "Water-horse" must now take its place in the 'alternate universe' bracket.)
