"Congratulations. You have given me nightmares."
"I was physically shaking by the time you got to the climax..."
"I had to review this story a second time because on what must be my sixth reading of it so much more of the story's elegance stands out."
"What a horrible yet delicious twist at the ending!"
"It's wonderful to see a story that doesn't have Snape angsting over Harry/MWPP/Voldemort/OC love interest etc...."
"...love your portrayal of Snape. It's brilliantly in character, down to his scathing, sarcastic dialogue."
"Wow...oh, wow. This is Professor Snape, entire."
"...the more I read it, the more I am drawn in by its subtle shadowy quality."

This story deals with the older students at Hogwarts; Harry Potter's year-group barely feature in it at all. Readers should also be warned that no love-interest is provided for any of the characters.
("Water-horse" was originally written post-Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and some of the minor details in this story are contradicted in subsequent canon: however, there are so few definite facts given in Half-Blood Prince that I have not felt able to revise the plot with authority, and I suspect that the final book in the series will invalidate my hypothesised history altogether. It's had a good run, but I'm afraid my "Water-horse" must now take its place in the 'alternate universe' bracket.)
Through Older Eyes - Dumbledore's own view of events on the Astronomy Tower during Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
