The Harry Potter Christmas Song

To the Tune of "The Christmas Song"

Words by Robert Wells
Adapted by Susan M. Shaw
New Lyrics by Catherine Johnson, Tamar Eney, and Dennis Maggard

Lucius roasting on an open fire
Dobby nipping at his nose.
Yuletide Carols sung by Ravenclaw's choir
And Winky dressed in pretty clothes

Everybody knows a turkey and some butterbeer
Help to make the season right
Hufflepuffs with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight

They know the Owl Post's on its way
They'll get lots of toys and presents on this day
And every Gryffindor is gonna spy
To see if Neville really knows how to fly
(sorry Neville)

And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To all the kids; yes, Slytherin, too.
Although it's been said many times, many ways
"Happy Christmas to you"

The Twelve Days of Harry Potter

To the Tune of 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'

Catherine Johnson and Benjamin Wick
Ok, as Trond suggested, I'm starting a thread, and I encourage all future
song writers to post their songs here, please. ^_^
And now...

...because no one demanded it

With Christmas 12 days away, I proudly...

...er, I happily...

...I... uh... present!

On the first day of Christmas, the Owl Post brought to me
A new sweater under the tree (Uh, thanks Mrs. Weasley...)

On the second day of Christmas, the Owl Post brought to me
Two best friends (You guys are so great!)
And a new sweater under the tree

On the third day of Christmas, the Owl Post brought to me
Three Dursleys (I'm related to them?)
Two best friends
And a new sweater under the tree

On the fourth day of Christmas, the Owl Post brought to me
Four Hogwarts Houses (Go, Gryffindor!)
Three Dursleys
Two best friends
And a new sweater under the tree

On the fifth day of Christmas, the Owl Post brought to me
Five golden snitches (What, I have to catch FIVE?!)
Four Hogwarts Houses
Three Dursleys
Two best friends
And a new sweater under the tree

On the sixth day of Christmas, the Owl Post brought to me
Six Quidditch teammates (We'll win the Cup again this year!)
Five golden snitches
Four Hogwarts Houses
Three Dursleys
Two best friends
And a new sweater under the tree

On the seventh day of Christmas, the Owl Post brought to me
Seven years at Hogwarts (I wish I could stay forever!)
Six Quidditch teammates
Five golden snitches
Four Hogwarts Houses
Three Dursleys
Two best friends
And a new sweater under the tree

On the eighth day of Christmas, the Owl Post brought to me
Eight books by Lockhart (Oh, goodie)
Seven years at Hogwarts
Six Quidditch teammates
Five golden snitches
Four Hogwarts Houses
Three Dursleys
Two best friends
And a new sweater under the tree

On the ninth day of Christmas, the Owl Post brought to me
Nine folks named Weasley (I wonder if they'd consider adopting me?)
Eight books by Lockhart
Seven years at Hogwarts
Six Quidditch teammates
Five golden snitches
Four Hogwarts Houses
Three Dursleys
Two best friends
And a new sweater under the tree

On the tenth day of Christmas, the Owl Post brought to me
Ten points from Gryffindor (C'mon, Professor Snape, it's Christmas!)
Nine folks named Weasley
Eight books by Lockhart
Seven years at Hogwarts
Six Quidditch teammates
Five golden snitches
Four Hogwarts Houses
Three Dursleys
Two best friends
And a new sweater under the tree

On the eleventh day of Christmas, the Owl Post brought to me
Eleven Slyth'rins scheming (Oh, that's not good)
Ten points from Gryffindor
Nine folks named Weasley
Eight books by Lockhart
Seven years at Hogwarts
Six Quidditch teammates
Five golden snitches
Four Hogwarts Houses
Three Dursleys
Two best friends
And a new sweater under the tree

On the twelfth day of Christmas, the Owl Post brought to me
Twelve veela dancing (Happy Christmas, indeed!)
Eleven Slyth'rins scheming
Ten points from Gryffindor
Nine folks named Weasley
Eight books by Lockhart
Seven years at Hogwarts
Six Quidditch teammates
Five golden snitches
Four Hogwarts Houses
Three Dursleys
Two best friends
And a new sweater under the tree

With chidings and taunts from Malfoy

Albus the hook-nosed wizard
had a very crooked nose
and if you ever saw him,
you would wonder how it blows.

All of the other wizards
were so jealous of his snout,
they kept insisting Albus
used dark arts to fill it out.

Till one gloomy Christmas Eve
when most wizards ran,
Albus with his nose so large
showed Grindelwald who's in charge.

Then all the wizards loved him
and that's how it came to pass,
Albus the hook nosed wizard
won Merlin's Order, first class!!!

I'm Dreaming of a Dark Wizard

To the Tune of "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas"

Troels Forchhammer
And now for one I know the tune to ... ;-)

I'm dreaming of a Dark Wizard
Just like the one I used to know
who made tree-tops wither
and children slither
to lie accurséd in the snow

I'm dreaming of a Dark Wizard
with every wizard-curse I cast
May your days be empty and vast
and may all your wizards be aghast

A Visit from St Severus

To the Tune of "The Night Before Christmas"

Original by Clement C. Moore.
New lyrics by Catherine Johnson.
Have I mentioned that I'm evil...? ^_^

'Tis the night before Christmas and here in the castle
I'm still wrapping presents—egad! What a hassle
I plan to give presents to all of the kids
And the teachers and Filch, and yes, even Hagrid
I'll even wrap one for myself—aren't I clever?
Then they'll never guess it was me—no, not ever!
I don't know what's caused this odd holiday cheer
But it keeps getting stronger as Christmas draws near
So gifts I will give, of books, candies and toys
For all Hogwarts girls and all Hogwarts boys

I shall use a charm to make the gifts small
How else do you think I could carry them all?
Then I'll take them up, just as quick as can be
And sneak out and put them all under the tree
Ah yes, there it is, what a beautiful sight
And no one will know what I've done here tonight
For quiet I'll be, and clever and sly
I'll be less than shadow as I slither by
And place the gifts hither and thither and yon
And then, like a memory, I'll simply be gone

For Slytherin! Ravenclaw! Both these and more!
For Hufflepuff! Yes! And even Gryffindor!
I'll slip under the tree! They never will know!
And then, and then, and then I will go!

But wait, what is this; is some else here?
I get this odd feeling, like someone is near
It's Potter, of course; why'd it have to be him?
He snuck out, I suppose, on some stupid whim.
Perhaps if I'm quiet, and don't make a sound
He'll stay where he is, and he won't turn around.
Yes, stay here I will, until that brat leaves
Now what was that sound? Oh, pro'bly just Peeves.

But then Potter turns, and looks me right in the eyes
"Oh, damn," I exclaim. "Professor!?" he cries.
"What are you doing," the boy asks with a sneer.
"I could ask you the same; you shouldn't be here!
You're out after curfew, you know that's not right
Do you want detention on Christmas eve night?"
"No, sir," he replies, sounding awfully contrite
Could it be he'll obey me for just this one night?

He looks at the bag I've slung over my shoulder
And takes a step forward, looking a bit bolder
"Those are presents, aren't they? Who are they for?"
"That's none of your business, Potter, don't be a boor.
Just leave me alone here and go back to bed
And get thoughts of this night right straight out of your head."
At this, he shrugs and heads out of the hall
Well, now that that's over—presents for all!

Christmas day dawns, so clear and so bright
And mysterious presents showed up in the night
All the kids are so happy, they can't wait to see
And, oh look, some new potion books all just for me
So they eat and they play, and they can't help ask, "Who?"
But they never will know—well, perhaps one or two.
Before I depart, I must not fail to mention:
"Happy Christmas to all, and to Potter—DETENTION!"

Voldie the Red-eyed Dark Lord

OK, you've convinced me:

There are your lords and my lords
And White Lords and Blue Lords
Red Lords and Green Lords
And Bright Lords and Dull Lords
But do you recall ...
The very darkest Lord of all

Voldie the red-eyed Dark Lord
Had a very stressful youth
And if you ever saw him
you would never call it truth
All of the other Dark Lords
used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Voldie
Forget about his Muggle names

Then one foggy Hogwarts eve
Slyth'rin came to say
Voldie with the eyes so bright
won't you loose my snake tonight
Then how the wizards feared him
As they cried aloud in plea
Voldie the red-eyed Dark Lord
You'll go down in history

On a somewhat lighter note than my previous contributions ;)

Here Comes Voldemort

To the Tune of "Here Comes Santa Claus"

Catherine Johnson
Warning: It's a bit icky...

Here comes Voldemort
Here comes Voldemort
Straight towards 4 Privet Drive
Malfoy and Nott and all the DEs
Leave no one alive
Blood is streaming
People screaming
Oh, what a glorious night
Better hope you've said your prayers
Cuz Voldemort's coming tonight!

Catherine Johnson. What do you want from me? I'm EVIL! ^_^

Tipsy the Red-nosed House Elf

To the Tune of "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer"

Dennis Maggard
Since Catherine said it was okay to re-use melodies, I was kicking
this one around in my head when she posted hers using the same tune...

Tipsy the red nose house elf,
had a very shiny nose,
some said the cooking sherry
was the source of all its glows.

All of the Hogwarts house elves
doubted his sobriety,
they never let poor Tipsy
join in doing work for free.

Then one dark, drear Christmas Eve,
Dumbledore did say,
"Tipsy with your nose so bright,
help to light the feast tonight."

Then all the house elves loved him,
as they shouted out with glee,
"you'll be remembered, Tipsy,
in Hogwarts: A History!!"

Scary, Scary, Scary Christmas

To the Tune of the Carol of the Bells

Dennis Maggard
Here's a darker Harry Potter Christmas Song...

Look up at Mars,
brightest of stars,
centaurs all say,
He's back to stay,

Voldemort's here,
filling with fear,
the young and old,
meek and the bold,

Stars tell no lies,
fear's on the rise,
Death Eaters meet,
Mudbloods retreat,

Grimly they speak
while people shriek,
spreading the fear,
Voldemort's near,

Scary, scary, scary, scary Christmas,
Scary, scary, scary, scary Christmas,
     stars do portend
     night without end,
their baleful glare bringing despair...

Poor Ol' Dobby

To the tune of "Little Donkey"

Mike Bristow
(Apologies to JK Rowling and Eric Boswell)

Poor ol' Dobby, poor ol' Dobby,
Trying to save Harry,
Got to keep him getting to School,
Save him from Voldy!

Been a long time, poor ol' Dobby,
Since your ears weren't flat,
Don't give up now, poor ol' Dobby,
He won't get through that!

Poor ol' Dobby, poor ol' Dobby,
Make the bludgers live,
Do not worry, poor ol' Dobby,
Harry will survive!

Do not falter, poor ol' Dobby
Harry's got the diary,
If you're lucky, poor ol' Dobby,
It'll set you free!

Sev'rus the Hated Teacher

To the Tune of "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer"

by Robert L. May
New lyrics by Catherine Johnson.

You know Flitwick and Lockhart
And Vector and Moody
McGonagall, Quirrell
Trelawney and Moony
But do you recall...
The most hated teacher of all?

Sev'rus, the hated teacher
Had a long and hookéd nose
He was tall and quite imposing
Always dressing in black clothes

Most of the Hogwarts students
Hated him and cursed his name
Treating his students cruelly
That was Sev'rus' claim to fame!

Then one dark and tragic night
Albus came to say
"Sev'rus, in our time of need
Won't you help us, this I plead?"

Then all the students...
Well, ok, they all still pretty much hated him, cuz, c'mon, he's a JERK, and really, just cuz he's on OUR side doesn't mean he can get away with treating students like that, I mean really!

Silent Night, Ominous Night

To the Tune of "Silent Night"

Troels Forchhammer
I know, I know ...
but when you get started, you can't stop

- the tune is old and German, the lyrics are mostly mine ;)

Silent night, ominous night
This midsummer was wrought in fright
Dark Mark glowing - the omen of death
Families lying without drawing breath
:/: Horror is growing in all :/:

Silent night, ominous night
You-know-who is the unholy light
Death Eaters meeting their master with glee
Some children's futures are never to be
:/: Horror is growing in all :/:

Silent night, ominous night
Avada Kedavra - an all-killing blight
The Dark Lord wanders the earth yet again
Bringing a quiver to hearts of men
:/: Horror is growing in all :/:

Silent night, ominous night
All are quivering in fright
Wizards and Muggles are scared all alike
When will Voldemort's Death Eaters strike
:/: Horror is cowing them all :/:

Hogwarts After Dark

to the tune of "Winter Wonderland"

Dennis Maggard

Students scream,
can't you hear 'em?
down below,
Filch is near 'em!
he gives them a fright
he's happy tonight
skulkin' around Hogwarts after dark.

Along the way, Mrs. Norris
joins right in with the chorus,
she screeches her song
as she creeps along
skulkin' around Hogwarts after dark.

In the dungeon Argus catches Neville
although he wishes it were Harry P.
he says, "you'll be sorry,
you young devil,"
then hangs him on the wall
for all to see!

Later on
they conspire,
man and cat, by the fire,
to check unafraid
the traps that they've laid
skulkin' around Hogwarts after dark.

In the dungeon Filch returns to Neville
and pretends that he's that Potter clown,
Filch has lots of fun with Mister Neville
till Albus comes and makes him take him down!

When it's dark,
life's so thrilling,
with his voice deep and chilling,
the man with a cat
he knows where you're at
skulkin' around Hogwarts after dark!

Skulkin' around Hogwarts after dark!!

Death Bells Toll

New lyrics by Troels Forchhammer

That is still true ;)

And I am still attracted by the juxtaposition of the
bright promise of the carol tune with the dark promise
of the reign of He-who-must-not-be-named >:->

Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Screaming all the way
See the Dark Mark glow
Spirits filled with fright
What agony to flee the row
of Death Eaters tonight

Chorus:
Death Bells toll, Death Bells toll
Cursing all away
Fleeing unforgivables
in a one-horse open sleigh
Death Bells toll, Death Bells toll
Cursing all away
Fleeing unforgivables
in a one-horse open sleigh

A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side
The horse did soon teeter
Misfortune did us nurse
We ran into a Death Eater
And there she got the curse

(chorus)

A day or two ago
The story I must tell
I went out on the snow
And on my back I fell
A wizard riding by
I saw the bright green ray
He cursed at me as I there lay
- my spirit went away

(chorus)

Now the ground is white
Go it while you're young
Take the girls along
and train your curses strong
Just bet a Galleon bright
It'll be your Christmas need
They'll be upon your door one night
Duelling with speed

(chorus)

Away in a Rude Hut

To the Tune of "Away in a Manger"

Dennis Maggard

Away in a rude hut, no crib for a bed,
a dragon named Norbert laid down his green head,
the half-giant Hagrid looked down where he lay,
a dragon named Norbert was hitting the hay.

A wolfhound is barking, the baby awakes,
the dragon named Norbert no crying he makes,
"I love you," says Hagrid, his surrogate sire.
Then a burp from Norbert sets his beard on fire.

Close near him good Hagrid does so long to stay,
but a dragon named Norbert, he must go away
to roam with his kind on Romania's plain,
yet in Hagrid's big heart he'll always remain.

I'll have to stop soon ...

O Voldemort, O Voldemort
How are thy ways so evil
Not only cruel in summertime
But crueller still by wintertime
O Voldemort, O Voldemort
How are thy ways so evil

O Voldemort, O Voldemort
Much pleasure doth thou bring me
I oft had naught to frighten me
Thy Dark Mark does enlighten me
O Voldemort, O Voldemort
Much pleasure doth thou bring me

O Voldemort, O Voldemort
Thy power will now teach me
That hope and empty firmness
Brings only pain and lifelessness
O Voldemort, O Voldemort
Thy power will now teach me
